Olympus Academy is a unique, personalized high school that is dedicated to student success. The cornerstone of the school is the partnership between the New York City Department of Education and the New York Center for Interpersonal Development (NYCID).

Since 1970, NYCID has been providing youth, community and professional development services to the community. In addition, its dispute resolution programs continue to educate and inform about constructive problem solving, effective communications, violence prevention and intercultural awareness.

Our Challenge
For some, school is easy. It is a place where they can be successful, thrive and build the skills they need. For others, school is an artificial environment, a meaningless series of pointless exercises and hollow goals. These latter students need help. They need something new. Too often, the solution is to take them from mainstream schools and to put them in less stimulating environments where they take fewer classes. Not surprisingly, it doesn’t work. They continue to fail. It is a vicious cycle and we need it to end.

Our Vision
We must develop a school that meets every student's needs, emotionally as well as educationally. It must equip all students with the skills they will need to be successful in their lives after high school. And it must be connected to the world they live in. Too often students with great ability fall far short of reaching their full potential. At some point, these great young people lose their motivation to learn and we must help them to get it back.
